From Last Week...

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
In the name of Allah the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful.

Last weekend, I had taken the opportunity to get involved in the English Reading Programme (ERP) as a facilitator.
Actually, it was a requirement for the section 3 students to handle it. I'm not from Section 3 but yes, I volunteered because I have nothing else to do on that day (HAHA) and I thought 'Teaching students how to read/ English huh? Why not?' Besides, I love teaching small kids. In fact, I had a very memorable experience of teaching Primary schoolers English for 1 month (everyday!) when I was sixteen and definitely, it was very rewarding when the mother of the kid thanked me, saying her son seemed to have taken some interest in learning English to a greater degree, and that her son said 'Kak Sarah best!' LOL. I don't clamour for the praises and compliments, seriously. I feel that it is my job, our job, to give even a bit of benefit to people who need it. Yeah, jadilah orang yang bermanfaat.

Why do I love teaching small kids? Because they're still not conformed to the typical Malay society where shyness and the feeling of inferiority clouded their hidden sense of confidence and curiosity. Kids are curious, the nearest example would be my littlest brother, Haziq who is only 8. He loves asking all sorts of questions, some of them mind-wrecking, some of the really funny. Haha. Of course, I'd try my best to answer all of his questions. I wanted him to keep asking for more, I don't want to diminish his confidence by saying 'Haziq ni banyak tanya lah! Diam lah!'. Yes, it is probably one of the reasons of most Malay students developed a low confidence level.  I don't know. It's just my theory.

Okay, moving on! This time, let the pictures do the talking. Yes, PICTURES!!! :D

Madam Hayati briefing the students. She reminds me of my mom. LOL

The group of kids from kindergarten to Standard 6? I guess.
Yang hujung dua orang tu bukan Standard 6.
Zimah and Fatin handling the games
My other group. I was involved with two groups, the first one- kids from 6-12 years old and yes..this second group, Form 1 students. Seriously, mereka sangat malu, especially the girls! Most probably because of the presence of those guys there. Normal la tu.

Actually, there are lots of pictures. Ni je yang termampu untuk upload. Muahaha. You get the gist la kan?

Overall, I am very happy, really satisfied! Eh, no, not that satisfied, upon seeing their level of speaking in English, with their confidence level.

My friend Najwa said 'Mula-mula nak kena handle program ni rasa macam terpaksa. Tapi bila dah buat rasa macam tak puas hati. Simple words pun diorang tak tahu'.

Yes, she's right! But that was the least that we could do, passing even a tiny bit of knowledge that we possess to the people who need it. It's one of 'amalan anak adam' yang takkan terputus walaupun kita meninggal dunia.

I stressed on the importance of reading to them. Reading is very very important. If you love reading so much, trust me, you can survive in this world. Why is that so? Through reading, you could gain knowledge! And having that particular knowledge is even more important and beneficial than having a degree. Just watch 3 Idiots la (though that Amiir Khan was not portrayed as somebody who loves reading, LOL).

Oh yes, just had our batch's 2nd Annual Grand Dinner last night. It was awesome, seriously! To think that stick through thick and thins with your comrades for 2 years, and there's another TWO YEARS left. Sedih, kan? The dinner was held at the Megaview Hotel. The foods, not bad la. :D

Everyone of us who attended the dinner received our own distinctive award. LOL.

Look what I've got:

LOL! It shows that I'm a true Star Wars fan! Muahahaha.

There's a cactus in the bag! =) I hope this cactus will live for a very long time, so that when I look at it in the old times, I'd remember the great time I had during my undergraduate years :')

Till then, au revoir!

One Day

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful.

Early Twenties
'That was a memorable day to me, for it made great changes in me. But, it is the same with any life. Imagine one selected day struck out of it and think how different its course would have been. Pause, you who read this, and think for a long moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on that memorable day.'
                                                                                 Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

Late Twenties
'We spent as much money as we could and got as little for it as people could make up their minds to give us. We were always more or less miserable, and most of our acquaintance were in the same condition. There was a gay fiction among us that we were constantly enjoying ourselves, and a skeleton truth that we never did. To the best of my belief, our case was in the last aspect a rather common one.'
                                                                                  Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

Early Thirties
'Sometimes you are aware when your great moments are happening, and sometimes they rise from the past. Perhaps it's the same with people.'
                                                                               James Salter, Burning the Days

The Day
'She philosophically noted dates as they came past in the revolution of the year;...her own birthday; and every other day individualized by incidents in which she had taken some share. She suddenly thought one afternoon, when looking in the glass at her fairness, that there was yet another date, of greater importance to her than those; that of her own death, when all these charms would have disappeared; a day which lay sly and unseen among all the other days of the year, giving no sign or sound when she annually passed over it, but not the less surely there. When was it?'
Thomas Hardy, Tess of the d'Ubervilles
All these quotes were taken from a very memorable book.

"A totally brilliant book" indeed! It focuses on the platonic relationship between two people who never knew that they actually love each other for the past twenty years. Typical? Yes.

Actually, it's more than that. It's a story about dreams.

In the early twenties and late twenties, you had so many vibrant dreams and wishful thinkings of how terrific the future would be. To think that you could have total control of shaping events the way you like it. That you have the means and power to do what you want. But as years went by, you got older, there are people who came and go, you're occupied with a life entirely different than what you have dreamed before. The good old youthful days filled with zeal, passion and determination are now forgotten. Dreams remain as dreams. Without you realising it, there is now a strand of grey hair amidst the once raven black. The fine wrinkle that began to take its form, permanently residing on your guise. You're old now. The time of which you'll be called upon by Allah to meet Him is imminent. Anytime now. Anywhere. To think that you spent oh-so-many years on this Earth without actually doing anything.

I love this book. I'm going to read it again. My heart aches for these two people on how things do not turn out as they planned them to be.

The title of the forum is  'In 10 years time, who should we be?'

My answer: ' We should be someone who is beneficial to others. It doesn't matter how small that benefit is'.

'Jadilah orang yang bermanfaat, tak kira sekecil mana pun manfaat itu'.

And thus, I constantly remind myself  "It's okay Sarah. Allah knows best. You may dislike what is good for you, and like what is bad for you. Allah knows best. Do everything for the sake of Allah.Make use of what you have to help others in need'.

We, the humans, the chosen ones, are appointed as khalifahs by Allah s.w.t, to bring upon prosperity and peace in this world. It saddens me to witness the you-know-what events that currently happen in our Muslim society today. The so-called Muslims who are not abiding and adhering to the rules of Islam. The so-called good and pious Muslims who left their so-called Muslim brothers mentioned above 'to live in so-called kekafiran' due to 'Differences. In.Political.Understanding'.

May Peace be Upon you, my brothers and sisters! :D

I got a tall mug as a token of appreciation!

Salam'alaik.

Alhamdulillah, baru balik daripada forum. Jadi ahli panel for the first time! Forum tu dalam Bahasa Melayu jadi sampai sekarang mode Bahasa Melayu lagi.

What I can say is that, okay, I did what I planned to do. One tiny thing that should be taken in consideration. Less merepek-ing please. LOL. The Tales of The Royal Toilet Cleaners turned out all right, it's just that it was a bit loooonggg. Hahaha.

So, as expected, not many people came to the forum. There's only a few of my classmates-not more than 5 who came, initially.

Kak Nisah-of course, she's in charge.
Kak Radhi-thank you for coming!
Amiirah- she's the emcee, yet thanks for the support!
Syau-my best friend who said 'Sebab you datang support I main squash dulu, jadi I kena support you berforum'.

Touched!

Budak lelaki kelas I takde pun. As expected, LOL.

Thanks for the wishes as well
From Teddy Fikri Pujangga (LOL Ted), Jay and Tiqah Hasman who privately messaged me.
And all my classmates who wished me luck when I stumbled upon them on the way to Syau's room or to the bathroom.

I finished with my 1st slot, then when I was about to start the 2nd slot, the moderator handed me the microphone and as I took it, a huge round of applause came from the brothers' side.

Of course, I was a bit surprised but I didn't look at the brothers' side to see who those supportive people are. But I can sense that the number of brothers was increasing.

Then somebody called my name.
Tiqah and Zimah! They came! Thank you!!! :D Terharu, seriously. :)

The forum was over. As Amiirah called upon my name to receive the token of appreciation from the president of iPhA, again, the same huge, merry round of applause greeted me.
This time, I looked behind. I was bewildered to see a number of brothers dressed in their baju Melayu and kopiah- my classmates from rx9 who stood up, clapping their hands, smiling at me.
Immediately, I got really touched.

I never expected that they will come. Those people whom I was never got closed to before, even one of them, the one person who once annoyed me to the very core when we were in our first year. They came!

Wah, thank you so much!

I know that we're really busy with our quizzes and assignments, lab reports that need to be submitted by the end of this week, hence being the main reason of why my classmates didn't come to see me forum-ming.

But yes, you came! You guys came! Thank you so much. This means a lot to me.

Well, life is unexpectedly weird, unpredictable. Those who came to support you when you really need them turns out to be those whom you don't really give much thought of in the first place.

This is a lesson learned.

Alhamdulillah. Praise be to Allah. Thank you for everything. I'm still in my baju kurung and tudung as I'm typing this. LOL. So, tomorrow, just like what I've said to Syau,

"I'm going to wake up tomorrow morning, go to class and pretend that nothing happened the night before".
I meant the forum, of course.

There's no way am I going to forget this rare act of kindness shown by my comrades whom I've begun to regard as my own family members.

And yes, cerita pasal forum dah habis. One day, I'm going to tell the story about the emcee-ing I did last Saturday. The one that totally changed my previous, pessimistic opinions about myself. The one that in a way, showed me that I have my own talents and personal unique qualities. Till next time though. :)

Now, I'm a Drama Queen; before,

I was sarcastic.
This so-called cartoon/doodle was drawn by me in 2009 using Microsoft Paint.
From this, you could see that
- My right arm is shorter than my left
-I do not possess phalanges and digits.
-My left leg is a bit crooked.
- I am so skinny. My upper and lower limbs are as thin as a wire (?)
- The poor unfortunate me does not possess a pair of eyebrows nor a nose.
- I do not have teeth.
-My tudung and my whole outfit are weird looking.

Notice that I've never posted a photo of me here in this blog. Well, I did once, long long time ago. Then I got embarrassed and deleted the photo.
Some of you who read this blog might/do not have the exact idea on how I look like in real life.

Well, feel free to assume that I look like this cartoon Sarah.

I'm too shy to post a photo of myself in public. I don't think it's necessary to do that as well. So, either this or...let's meet in real life! :P

May Peace be upon you!

The Adventures of TinTin

When I was young, my mom used to take me and my siblings to the public library, and we were allowed to roam within the library's vicinity at our own whims (and parental supervisions)
That was the time when we discovered one of the most wonderful comic books that ever existed in this world. I am not exaggerating.

The comic book is called read the title of this post.

TinTin is a reporter who is always having adventures around the world  with his dog, Snowy and friend, Captain Haddock. He had been to Congo, America, fictional country called Syldavia, China, Tibet, the MOON, Middle East and banyak lagi la.

The other recurring characters include the hilarious detectives Thomson&Thompson and the opera singer, Bianca Castafiore. And oh yeah, Professor Calculus.
There are altogether TWENTY FOUR comic books on TinTin's adventures. I remember that we used to take turns reading each one of them and looking at the illustrations on each strip with full concentration.
The distinctive, special thing about the TinTin comics is that all the places they went to are depicted realistically and accurately; the cultures, the landscapes, the history, it's as though you're really traveling there with TinTin and his counterparts.

Alas, I was no longer the member of the public library. College called, and I'm now a busy university student (don't you feel the overwhelming desire to laugh at this very sentence? :P)

Until, Steven Spielberg decided to make a 3D Motion Capture film on this young sleuth! Hurray!
I haven't got the chance to watch it together with my siblings at the cinema, nevertheless managed to do so only yesterday when my brother had successfully downloaded the movie (like a pirate) from the internet.

We connected the laptop to the television screen and whoa, it's as if you're watching it on DVD or something. Geddit? Geddit?

I must say that it is the MOST BEAUTIFUL FILM I HAVE EVER SEEN.
It's like, a 3D, animated sort of film but at the same time it looks really realistic! The facial expressions of each character, the clarity of the sky, the colour of the ocean, the rolling of the waves as the wind swept through, the delicate wrinkles on TinTin's eyes (:P), and many others.

It's hard to actually convey the feelings through mere words and downloaded pictures, which is not that many, LOLZ, you'll have to see it by yourself to feel it, to experience it, to live it.

And I'd recommend you to read the TinTin books. I've read 21-22 of them I guess (there are 24 books in total). It is suitable for young children (duh, of course), I mean, for parents who are particular about the whole English grammar+correct sentence structures stuffs. The English is simple and the sentences are grammatically correct ( I think).

The complete TinTin books are quite expensive (thundering typhoons!) so it's best if you borrow them from the library. IIUM Kuantan's Library only has TWO TinTin books. (blistering barnacles!)

I'm SOO going to get all 24 of them the next time I go to Chowrasta.

A new Harry Potter spell

Most of you had already known how much I love Harry Potter. Oh, you dono? Hokayla takpe. Now you know. :P

One day, Dr Marwan, one of the lecturers for the subject Body System II: Respiratory and Urinary System taught us about the asthma disease, which is caused by the constriction of the bronchus which in turn obstructs the air pathway.

And suddenly he said something that has the 'us' thing at the end, it sounds like one of the spells in Harry Potter.
It goes like this- STATUS ASTHMATICUS!!! It means severe asthma.

I was astounded. HARRY POTTER!! (read: Harry Pottah!)And you know what I did? I held my pen (the make-belief wand), did a swish and flick motion, (though maybe it's just applicable to the spell Wingardium Leviosa but never mind, I love it) pointed it to my friend and muttered STATUS ASTHMATICUS! Okay friend, you got asthma already! LOL.

STATUS ASTHMATICUS!!!
Why are you so mean-os? I can't breathe-os! I need Salbutamol-os that will act-os on the Beta-2 receptors-os of my bronchial-os smooth muscle-os (Nerd-os)

Evil-os spell-os, this is-os. Of course-os, nothing happened-os.

(I have no idea why tiba-tiba tergedik letak os-os ni)

So, after failing to do that, I decided to keep moving forward and try new things!
What I'm trying to do now:

I tried my best but it didn't work. Maybe I lost my focus there (but then, I didn't get splinched either :P) Oh, never mind. Keep moving forward!!!

Que Sarah Sarah

I know it's Sera, Sera. Whateviaq la. LOL.

Why do you think too much about the future?
Contrary to the famous cliche 'the future is in your hands', I must say that the future is not entirely in your hands.
Things that you plan to happen might not actually happen and vice versa.

Why worry so much about the future? It has not happened yet. REPEAT.

As I reflect on this, I arrived into a conclusion
I should just do my BEST in everything I'm doing right now, doing my best in everything that I intend to do, insya-Allah, it will lead to a great future.

Surah al-Insyirah ayat 7-8.

Maka apabila kamu telah selesai (dari sesuatu urusan), kerjakanlah dengan
sungguh-sungguh (urusan) yang lain,
dan hanya kepada Tuhanmulah hendaknya kamu berharap.

صدق الله العظيم

Cheapo Skatepo

Assalamualaikum and hello all. :)

I had undergone a series of unfortunate events (ceh!) throughout this week,  from Monday till today, Friday. Never mind, those are just tests given by the Almighty. I hope I pass them with flying colours! :D

So today, I went to the MPH Book Fair at Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Centre.
There are lots and lots and lots of books with lots and lots and lots of discounts! 90%! I kid you not!

I was like Becky Bloomwood in sample sales. I clutched the handles of the red basket firmly and thus began the event of filling in the basket with books, books and more books!
Then I filtered my selection, taking into full consideration of whether I will really read those books in the future. Then I chose more books, filtered them again, and the whole process went on and on until I finally managed to come up with the final 7 books.

Went to the cashier, a cheeky young man keyed in (?) the prices of those books. Dianna Wynne Jones' book actually belongs to the 10% discounts area! Pftttt!!!! So I decided not to take it. It was not in a good condition anyway.

Anyway, when he had finished doing that, he declared "Altogether, it's RM 229.35!"
My eyes almost bulged out and I bent over to look at the computer. The young man grinned and continued
".....before discount!"
"Pheww!!!" I let out a huge sense of relief.

You know how much I paid for those books?
A freaking RM22.95!!! Discounts of RM206.42! It's crazy, I tell you!

Books I bought (from top)
1. Harry Pottiness: A totally unofficial Book of Muggle Fun (FINISHED READING THIS WHILE WAITING FOR MY FRIENDS SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES LOL)
Real price: RM 19.95 Discount: RM 17.96

2. Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie (I know he's the writer of The Satanic Verses, but I wanted to read this book)
Real price: RM39.90 Discount: RM35.91

3. Howards' End is on the Landing by Susan Hill (I read the synopsis and found out that the story has something to do with me (and other readers) Guess what? :P So I buy lor.)
Real price: RM49.90 Discount: RM44.91

4.Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (I'd always wanted to possess this novel. SOOO BADLY!! Okay, I'm exaggerating. But yeah, I wanted to read this ever since I've seen the title on goodreads and other bookblogs)
Real price: RM49.90 Discount: RM44.91

5. Inspector Singh Investigates: A Bali Conspiracy Most Foul by Shamini Flint (Shamini Flint is a Singaporean author. I've always wanted to know what's so great about this novel of hers)
Real price: RM35.90 Discount: RM32.31

6. The Call of the Wild by Jack London (I've never read any of Jack London's book before but I've heard of him and it seems like The Call of the Wild is his most famous book?)
Real price: RM16.90 Discount: RM15.21

7. Strip Jack by Ian Rankin (I've never heard of him before but Nazriq-the editor for the Torch said he enjoys reading Rankin's novels so I guess I'm gonna give it a try)
Real price: RM16.90 Discount: RM15.21

GROSS PRICE: RM 229.35
DISCOUNT: RM206.42-
FINAL PRICE: RM22.95!!! Oh yeahh!!

I know you might think that those books that I bought are boring but hey I don't have much choices okay. Plus, they are freaking cheapo! You know how hard it was to find those books? All the books in the 90% discounts section were not arranged properly so you'll need a meticulous pair of eyes and a flexible neck! LOL.

I wanted to buy more but hey, don't be greedy! Jangan menzalimi buku-buku yang anda tidak akan baca! Mary Poppins said "Enough is as good as a feast!"

The best find of the day goes to *drumroll*

Yupss!!! Hahaha.

Okay, may peace be upon you and good day to all! (it's already 11.23 pm)

Dried ink

I'm in pain. My body aches and I'm shivering all over.

Being in this state reminds me of home and my family.
If I were at home this time, I would carry my comforter and pillow, sleep on the sofa downstairs, watching whatever there is on TV.
And if I wanted something; say, a glass of water, I'd ask my darling sister to get it for me. Right now, I couldn't really stand still.
As for my mom, she would touch my neck and forehead, her eyebrows knitted together upon feeling the higher than normal temperature. Then she'd give me something to eat and get me a glass of water and panadols.
She would also get a big bowl of water, soak the small towel in it and put it on my forehead.
On the next day, she would cook porridge for me.
I miss my mom and my sis. I miss the rest of my family members. I miss Haziq.  I miss my home sweet home that is located more than 300 km away from Kuantan.

But right now, I'm all alone in my compartment. I have to force myself to eat and then take the medicine. If I wanted something, I'd have to go get it myself.
Worse still, I need to study tonight. There'll be a quiz tomorrow. Luckily I've studied the topics the night before.
My stomach hurts and it gives me this nauseating feeling. My head is throbbing painfully.
I feel so alone. Not really. Allah is with me. He's watching me now. He could feel my pain. I know that in a way, He's trying to say "Stay calm and patient. Everything will be okay in the end. Verily, when there's difficulty, there's relief. When there's difficulty, there's relief'"

Another two weeks to be spent here. Plus that one day of lecture on the 8th week *sigh*.
I can't wait to go home!!!
I hope I'll get a lot better tomorrow. Ameen.

Weekend getaway

Assalamualaikum and hello all.

Why hello there! We are Sarah's shoes! Our owner is resting comfortably on the hammock by the sea, taking a picture of us (me and my partner). Smile!

My family -Mommy, Daddy (saja gedik panggil mommy and daddy LOL) and my darling siblings, Syazwani, Danial and oh-so-adorable Haziq came all the way from Kedah to visit me here in Kuantan! Syafiq did not come because he's currently busy with his project.

So, we went to Cherating and stayed there for a night! My father and younger siblings (especially Haziq) had great fun at the beach while my mom and I just watched them, talking to each other like old friends. My mom is my best friend! It's hard to keep secrets from her! In fact, we tell each other everything! We even share clothes and shoes sometimes, haha!

But to tell the truth, I didn't have much fun because
1) It's weekend and I'm supposed to be studying for the imminent THREE quizzes next week!
2) Also, lab reports and the outline for my Nutra assignment! Gahh!!!

At first, I was a bit stressed and tensed up. But then I reminded myself;
"Come on Sarah! Just put your notes away and enjoy your holiday!!!! Don't be a studyholic and a future workaholic!!!"
I did that and wow, it feels so great not to think about your studies even for a whole day! (macamlah rajin sangat selama ni). I even played Clue-Do with Haziq (remember my youngest bro who loves boardgames?) and he won! (coz I bagi chance kat dia, lepas tu gembira sangat sampai tidur pun tersenyum-senyum).

Then, bye-bye family! (wipe tears) They're currently on their way to KL to meet Syafiq in IIUM Gombak and have dinner with him at the oh-so-famous Mahallah Ali's cafe, insya-Allah.

As for me, I'm stuck here for another two weeks in the land of the nerds STUDYING for the sake of the ummah! Wahh!!!

Okay, may peace be upon you! =)

The Case of the Stolen Boyfriend

I have a boyfriend, his name is Oscar. For the first month of us knowing each other, we had spent a lot of time, which include going to the Sports Complex and class together.
But later on, I got busy with quizzes, assignments and such that I didn't have time to see him anymore. I abandoned him, never visited him again ever since.

I didn't even wish him goodbye when the semester ended. What a bad girlfriend I am. :((

Time went by. The new semester had approached and I didn't visit him even once. *sobs*.

One day, my friend Naza told me that she was looking for her boyfriend at the shed but couldn't find him. Suddenly she saw a group of girls, happily walking with their boyfriends, and guess what? One of their boyfriends is Naza's! She stole Naza's boyfriend!

Naza asked her "Hey, why did you steal my boyfriendd???"

The girl replied "Oh, I didn't know that he has a girlfriend. Someone told us that if we found any males that are  not being chained, then they are single males! We could take any of those unchained males as our boyfriends!"
 (these sentences sounded soo wrong!)

Pffttt, siapa la yang pandai sangat tu hah? Oh yeah, I didn't chain my boyfriend because I had faith that he wouldn't wander around  the chain rosakkk..

Oh, really? that was all that I said as she told me this. Okay. I'm sure that Oscar wouldn't cheated on me. Come on, he has ME as his girlfriend! Pffftttt!!!

And just now, another friend, Raihanah asked for my permission to borrow Oscar. Of course I allowed Rai to go out with my boyfriend to Tasik Bandar. I trust her! And my Oscar!

Suddenly, Rai called me, saying "Kak Sarah, Your boyfriend is chained!"

"WHATT??" the pieces of sushi were accidentally spit out from my mouth due to my overwhelming reaction and expression.

I began to think about Naza's story earlier. What if some girls desperate of boyfriends decided to steal my boyfriend? You girls! Why you steal my boyfriend??? Why you no get your own boyfriend??
Oscar!!! Why you cheated on me!!!

And so, armed with a note scribbled with fury, a roll of cellophane tape and a pair of scissors, and oh yeah, my camera to take pictures as evidences, I marched to M7, where I left Oscar.
Voila! The rumour's true! Bad Oscar, bad bad Oscar!!!

Dishevelled Oscar. Yet, he looks dashing and charming, probably one of the reasons why somebody took him.

See, somebody chained him!!!!

If this case is to be brought to court, I have several evidences that Oscar is mine!

1st evidence: I changed the seat so that I'd be more comfortable when Oscar carries me.

2nd evidence: The battle scar at the rim of the basket, caused by a minor accident in front of Kulliyyah of Pharmacy (on my birthday! I have witnesses!!!)

And so, I left a note : HEY YOU, WHY YOU TOOK MY BOYFRIEND??!!!

Malas nak translate. Nasiblah siapa tak pandai Bahasa Melayu. :P

Bye bye Oscar! Once I got you back, I hereby promise that I will wash and scrub you clean! *sobs*

So now, I'm waiting for that person's response. If she didn't respond until this semester is over, then I shall go to IIUM security, forced the Pakcik guard to bring a chainsaw or something to release Oscar from the clutch of the evil woman (she is evil if she didn't return Oscar back to me).

Sambil-sambil melayan perasaan hiba dan pilu, bertambah pilu apabila melihat

Pohon-pohon kehijauan telah ditebang. Berita baik: Monyet sudah berpindah.

Okay, kenapa tiba-tiba tukar mode Bahasa Melayu? Dah nama Melayu tu, lidah Melayu jugaklah..

The moral of the story is: Once you have a boyfriend, hold on to your boyfriend! Never let him go! And don't trust your boyfriend 100%!!!!

One of my proudest moments

Went into the bookshop.
Browsed the selection of books.
Found one book I really wanted.
Held the book, flipped it through.
Suddenly remembered that I currently have like, 5 half-read books.
Put the book back.
Walked out of the bookshop.

Went to Carrefour.
Bought Sushi instead.

Final Decision

I guess I'll be going to Taiwan after all, insya-Allah.
I'm still in doubt... but yeah, if it's meant for me, it's meant to be lah.
If tak jadi pergi, then it's not meant for me lah..
With that, may peace be upon you! :)

Peach Cobbler

No amount of guilt can change the past and no amount of
worrying can change the future. Go easy on yourself for the
outcome of all affairs is determined by Allah’s Decree.
If  something is meant to go elsewhere, it will never come on
your way, but if it is yours by destiny, from you it cannot
flee.

Que Sera Sera (Que Sarah Sarah :P)
Whatever will be will be,
The future's not ours to see,
If it's meant for me,
Then it is meant to be, insya-Allah (sorry I tukar lyrics)

I rest my case.

The Return of the Rowling.

In this case, the first person that I thought of upon waking up this morning is JK Rowling. LOL. It probably has to do with the news and announcements about Rowling's new adult fiction which will be published by Little, Brown and Company, who ironically, also published Stephenie Meyer's The Twilight Saga.

Lying on the bed, my mind drifted off to the trio characters, the main casts who played the trio, the time when  I first watched Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, the first time I read the book, which is the first most expensive book I've ever bought. RM32.90-RM 36.90.

One of my favourite lines in the books. The one when Harry said to Snape.
"There's no need to call me sir, " well, something like that

I love Harry Potter. This might sound a bit corny, but the books are magical in a way. It's as if you're living in the story as one of the characters, that Harry, Ron and Hermione are your friends, that you grew up together with them. And suddenly, 19 years later. Adventure's over. Ahh, only a true Potterhead will understand this feeling.

So, yes. JK Rowling is one of the reasons of my happiness and pain. The happiness when reading her books, and the pain upon closing the final chapter of the Deathly Hallows. Also the pain that I feel for the casts who have worked together for 10 years.

I'm being melodramatic.

I can't wait to get my hands on the new book! I hope it's as good as what we expect, as it comes from the author who wrote the immensely popular Harry Potter series. If it is well...disappointing, then yeah, (you get the idea).

#RowlingReturns!!!

Yup, one of my friends likes her own photo. In fact, MANY of my friends 'liked' their own photos and statuses. :P

Indecisive

This is not one of those popular entertainment blogs where people did reviews on places they went, foods they ate, how to wear a shawl, how to apply a lipstick (LOL), well, you get it.

This is a personal blog. Thus, a place where I ramble and rant with a moderate degree of conscience.

Here it goes. I'm an indecisive person. I really couldn't make decisions. Even after I've made my decision, I would actually considering of budging from it if there's other alternatives or choices. This is bad. They said that AB blood type people tend to be indecisive, because they are drawn towards both sides, A and B. Of course I should not believe in ridiculous things like this.

I'm feeling a bit down lately. There's no specific or even valid reasons on why I should be upset. Perhaps it's the hormone. I've submitted my resume for the APPS Taiwan 2012. Initially, the kulliyyah wanted to sponsor 8 students. By that, they mean, they're going to give each of us RM500 as some kind of subsidy for the trip. Later on, I've been informed that kulliyyah now is going to sponsor only FIVE students, because they don't have enough money. >_<

I know that I wouldn't make it into one of the five people. I'm not being pessimistic, I'm being realistic.
The result is not out yet but the thing is, I'm not feeling at all excited about the prospect of going to Taiwan. I'd have to scoop around RM4000 and frankly speaking, Taiwan never made it into my 'List of Places I Wanted to Visit'. So, what's the purpose of spending a lot of money going to a place I don't even have interest of going to? Sorry Taiwanese.  Besides, one of my friends had already tarik diri from going there. That RM4000 could be used for something else!

So I told one of my friends who'll be going there that "I'm sorry". She replied, begging me to go with her. This puts me in a dilemma but of course, again, I'm sorry, I'm not going there, dear.

I've been thinking of doing something else during the upcoming 3 months break. Something more exciting and interesting than Taiwan. I haven't thought of it yet. But yeah, I'm not going to Taiwan. This decision is final. Even if the kulliyyah decided to sponsor me, I'm not going. Instead, I'm going to save money to go to APPS Japan 2013 next year, insya-Allah. Ahh..Japan! Now that's more likely.

Let's talk about good things now.
First of all, I went to my first Mandarin class last night! It was awesome, a source of escape, something I wouldn't mind doing everyday. A tension relief medication, in a way. I hope I will never miss any of the upcoming Mandarin classes, insya-Allah.

I have this weird picture/vision of myself being cool.
Cool? I picture myself as this girl in a denim jubah (I have no idea, don't ask me), a long tudung and a brown vintage oxford shoes, walking by herself, reading classics like Vanity Fair, Love at the Time of Cholera and The Taming of the Shrew, listening to classical music, reciting sonnets of William Butler Yeats and William Shakespeare, spends time writing poems like Emily Dickinson, absorbed in her own world.

This is weird, isn't it? I do not possess a denim jubah and an Oxford shoes (hey, maybe I could use the money to buy the denim jubahs and several pairs of Oxford shoes! And more long tudungs, LOL) I've never read any of the 3 books listed above, the only sonnet of Shakespeare that I remember is the one in the English Literature Form 4 which goes like this:

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
thou art more lovely and temperate

then I forgot the rest of the poem.

I enjoy reading classics even when I was a young child. But back the, I read the abridged version. The complete, unabdriged version is quite...how to say it? Soporific. Yeah. Not all of them, of course.

Well, actually there's more. But let's give it a rest.

And yeah, I'm the secretary for IIUMFiesta's opening ceremony+forum. Life will be very busy.
WO HEN MANG!!!

Ok, bye! WAN SHANG HAO!!!

Paranoid

My height is acceptable. LOL.
The same goes with my weight.
My BMI is normal.
Visceral fat percentage is normal too.

But the thing is, I love to EAT.
Just give me all kinds of foods, I'll gobble them up like Augustus Gloop.
Okay, let me paraphrase the sentence I love to EAT. Fast foods, particularly. KFC, Pizza Hut. McDonald's tak, sebab boycott. LOL.
But I don't exercise. I hate exercising.

And so, I'm scared of getting high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, arteriosclerosis, all kinds of heart diseases. Diabetes mellitus, etc.

Also, I think I'm getting fat! *grumpy*.

Look at me, only 21 and yet thinking about health (this is a cynical remark, not a self-compliment).
It shows that I'm growing up and becoming an adult! *gasp*.
Believe it or not, one of the signs of adulthood is when you started being concerned about your health, and taking action such as dieting (to avoid unnecessary fats accumulating in my heart, vessels and other parts) and also exercising (if you don't exercise and just keep on dieting, do you expect the 'beloved' fats that you  currently possess will miraculously disappear? Okay fine, only if you're severely anorexic but we don't want to be like Nicole Richie or Kate Moss, even Victoria Beckham, don't we?)
The principle is preventing something from entering and throwing something out. Well, something like that. *shrug*

So, I decided to change.
So far, things are going OK.

My first principle is: EAT only when you really feel hungry.
For breakfast, I only drink a hot mug of Milo, which is enough to last up till 1.00 p.m, where I'll take brunch of a polystyrene full of rice (carbohydrate) with the gravy (oil/fat) filled to the brim that if you carry it in a plastic, the gravy will spill out. A large fish (protein) and also, vegetables. Maximum price if you buy it at Cafe Lot 4 Talhah =RM4.00.

When I eat, I will munch it slowly, bit by bit, grinding each food into fine particles (? haha) so that my stomach and intestine could digest them easier, easier for absorption as well. :P Also to avoid indigestion. Doing this is a kind of exercise for your mouth, burning up the unnecessary fats that made up your double chin and round cheeks. (I hope! xD), also it makes you feel satiated (kenyang) at a short time. So, no need to eat more. Save money, yaay!!!

After that, I'll take a tablet of  Vitamin C (I always experience cold so it helps to boost my immunity plus, more radiant skin! :P) and a tablet of Vitamin ACE (anti-oxidants). You could also take other multivitamins but not too much. Real foods always beat the artificial. Taste better, too.

I drink a maximum of 1.8L water per day. Know how I do it?
Take a water bottle of 600ml capacity. Fill it.
1. Drink the first 600 ml in the morning. Fill it.
2. Drink the second 600 ml in the afternoon. Fill it.
3. Drink the third 600 ml at night.

Of course, you don't have to gulp all 600 ml water in one go. Take it slowly.

At around 6.30 p.m, I went jogging with my friend at the dirty, polluted lake in front of the mahallah. I made 7 rounds just now. Yaay! Bear in mind that this effort has to be continuous. At least jog once a week if you're too busy during the weekdays.

At night, I feel a bit hungry but not exactly starving. I shall not succumb to the will of my stomach. Rather, I regard it as a lust towards food. You're not actually hungry, do ya? Pfftt..

Instead, I drink Milo. I drink water. Sometimes, your stomach cheated on you. You think you're craving for food when actually, your stomach yearns to be filled with something. Water, perhaps? Water is good.

I want to keep up with this kind of lifestyle. I don't want to get hypertension (my late grandma had one) and any other diseases resulted from sedentary lifestyles!

But I'm going to add something.
QUAKER OAT! Or just plain oatmeal.
I'm gonna eat it in the morning as breakfast.
At night, when I could not bear the hunger and lust for food, LOL,
Tadaa! OAT is the solution!

Why oat? After extensive research and evidences, Oat had been proven to reduce the cholestrol of your heart  , the bad low density lipoprotein. Believe me, this claim is 100% valid because according to my lecturer, "For a medical claim to be made towards a particular food product, there need to be supporting proofs and evidences". And yes, extensive research. Also because I take nutraceutical this semester. A subject that deals with nutrition and pharmaceutical. Foods that could give health benefits.

Gotta get Oatmeal pronto!!!

With that, thank you!

And yes, everything is based on willpower!!!

P.S. Baru cakap tak nak makan malam, sekali roommate offer mee bandung. Tapi yelah, bak kata P.Ramlee, rezeki jangan ditolak, maut jangan dicari. Juga untuk mengelakkan pembaziran. Sekian terima  kasih.

P.P.S. Alah, kalau puasa satu hari boleh, takkanlah skip makan malam pun tak boleh? Oh yes, besides, you could also fast during the day, but eat moderately for iftar.

Can't believe I'm writing this. Tsk.

SPM Results

Gotcha! Nope, I have no idea on when the results will be out. I don't care to know either. :P
I've shared this before in 2008, having the last laugh before receiving my 2007 SPM Results. LOL.
To all 2011 SPM Candidates, all the best! Oh yes, this year shows a similarity with the year 2008, the year  we received the SPM results, also the year where the General Election took place. I have a strong conviction that the next election will take place this year (duh-uh!), most probably after you received your SPM results. :P

EDIT: SPM Results will be out on 22nd of March 2012

When is the SPM results? What the Experts had to say...

Kindergarten teacher:I dunno

Aristotle: It is the nature of spm result come out in uncertain date

Ronald Reagan: I forget.

Richard M. Nixon: The result is not out yet. I repeat, the result is NOT out yet.

Jerry Seinfeld: Why does anyone want spm result? I mean, why doesn't anyone ever think to ask "What the heck was this result doing out here, around all over the place anyway?"

Bill Gates: I have just released the new SPM Results Office 2000, which will not only tell the result, but will give result, file your result, and balance your result. Get the Genuine results.

Tun Dr M: You know, I am tired of all this...'apa-nama' SPM-SPM bisnes...the foreign powers should stop intervening in our domestic affairs and just leave our SPM results alone.. If they want to... 'apa nama' to be out and announced, they should be allowed to ... Malaysia is a democratic country; we let our SPM results come out whenever they want to... as long as they don't threaten the Malay unity and try to topple the
government...and if they plan to do so... we won't hesitate to use the ISA...

Colonel Sanders: WTF??

Bill Clinton: I've had so many results, I can't remember...

On a final note, at your tender age of 17-18, it's only natural to feel that SPM means the world to you, that getting undesirable results equals the end of the world. Trust me, once you've reached my age (I'm 22 this year), you'll realize that SPM is a bunch of craps anyway. The results? They are all alphabets. HAHA.

But yelah, you can't deny that SPM is important. More on this later (I guess).

May Peace be Upon You!

The Search

It's the remote control.

This morning, I searched for it on the sofa, at the corner of the sofa, under the sofa, on the floor (whether it has fell down), even thinking of going to the kitchen to look for it (LOL).

It turned out that the remote was on the table. 'Sitting' majestically on the table RIGHT in front of me.

Later on I realised that;

"Sometimes, you could be searching for that one thing for the rest of your life without even realizing that the thing is actually in front of you,"

In this case, it's for one whole minute.

I've taken the trouble to search the remote control at unthinkable places, places that I think I'd found it, when in fact, it was there on the table, visible to everyone else but not me.

Why didn't I look to the surface of the table in the first place? Because I found it ridiculous to actually look for something that doesn't really need to be looked for. (read this two or three times to understand its meaning).Okay, if you still don't understand. It's like this:

The moment you see the remote on the table. That's it. Take the remote. You don't have to search for it.
If you know the remote is on the table, you wouldn't be searching high and low for it.

This sounds complicated, doesn't it?

The same goes with our lives, I guess.
We tend to think of complex means of achieving our goals when in fact, it's really easy (Not easy as it sound of course). But maybe we don't have to look for opportunities we've been looking for, the ones we've been waiting for all along.

The opportunity is right in front of you, waiting for you to acknowledge its existence.

It seems like you got a feeling that every single thing has to be difficult and laborious, so you chose the hard way of searching the remote at other places but at the top of the table- the place where you could find everything the easiest.

Maybe we've been searching at the wrong places all the time when in fact, it doesn't need to be searched for. The remote control is RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. ON. THE. TABLE!!!

Or maybe I could just say "I didn't see the remote on the table, so I looked somewhere else".

Because all this time, the remote had always camouflaged itself within the black material of the sofa. Naturally, it's the first place that I'll look for.

The same goes with your life. It has always been arduous, the ways of how your goals are achieved. What makes you think that this one task (after a series of difficult courses) would be easy? Hence the reason I didn't look for the remote on the table in the first place

Easy la eh? No need to trouble your mind with this short essay. Pffttt..
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work
                                                                     - Thomas Edison

(though I hardly count 'looking for remote control' as an 'opportunity' dressed in overalls)

Good day to you all *tipping my non-existent bowler hat*

Short (forced) update

aka 'A Post for Haziq'

My 8-year-old Bro, Haziq said

"Kakak, kakak tulislah dalam blog kakak kita main Monopoly sama-sama,"

I'm forced to play Monopoly with my youngest brother, considering none of my other siblings wanted to play with him. Kesian la kat dia. I'm a good sister kan, mesti la kena main dengan adik. :P

My mom remarked,

"This will be a moment to remember! (for my brother)". LOL

I don't even like Monopoly. Erkk...

So, here it is Haziq! (Haziq's sitting next to me as I type this).

Tudung-wearing women

Whenever I watch TV or movies, the tudung-wearing women are often portrayed as being goody two shoes, ladylike, sweet, demure, pious, and the list goes on.

Or if not, in the Malay Dramas, the tudung wearing women are also depicted as  those defenseless creatures who ended up being oppressed and abused by their husbands, then doing nothing but crying and lamenting their fates.

More often, these tudung-wearing women would be the ones who will talk about Islam, the ones who give advice to the other so-called not-so-pious women who do not wear tudung.

It kinda gives the same stigma, the stereotype of women wearing tudung. They did nothing in the dramas/movies but to preach about religion, and of course, to display good moral conducts, being role models among their peers and colleagues.

Of course, those are the attributes that tudung-wearing women should have. But come on la, is that all? No other  images given to them?

I have yet to see a drama or a movie about a tudung-wearing woman:

1. Who won karate competition, competing with a woman from different religion, to show that Muslim women too, could enter and win martial art competition, completely blowing off the common misconception non Muslims have about tudung-wearing Muslim women.

2. Who becomes the advocate of Humans' Rights, and even entered jail for defending women's rights. This happened in real life of course but sadly, haven't been portrayed in dramas or TVs.

3. A strong minded woman who does not talk about religion 24/7 to show that she is pious. Being a Muslim woman doesn't mean that you have to become Perempuan Melayu Terakhir, acting all sweet and soft, up to the point that you're being labelled as LEMBIK.

4. Who entered sports and won! We can do sports as well!

5. Who is a scientist and managed to create a time travel machine using a DeLorean and flux capacitor (okay, this sounds ridiculous).

6. A journalist disguising as a student at school (now why does this sound familiar?)

The list of things that tudung-wearing women could do is endless(almost!). We are not defenseless like Bella Swan in Twilight saga. In fact,  we are independent! Tudung does not restrict us doing stuffs we like as long as it does not contradict the Islamic teachings. Islam is an easy religion. It's the followers who make things so difficult.

Seriously, the TV producers nowadays need to change this stigma. It's always the same old storyline. Bad woman who doesn't wear tudung, good tudung-wearing woman, the hero who is attracted to the tudung-wearing woman, the bad woman devising strategies to sabotage the tudung-wearing woman. The tudung wearing woman knowing about the bad woman's intentions yet choosing to do nothing but to become patient and leave everything to God. (and cries) Purrr-leaseeee...

They should vary the roles of tudung-wearing women. Barulah best.

No wonder cerita Melayu sekarang bosan. T__T

Major Mistake

Refer to the previous post.

TODAY IS TUESDAY!!! NOT WEDNESDAY!!!!

Rolling on the floor laughing out loud with a bit of Chewbacca-like ROAR!

Wordless Wednesday
